My life as a Reiki Master

I have been a Reiki Master/Teacher since 2004. One of the greatest joys of my life is being able to attune another person to receive the magic of Reiki energy. But as someone once said, with great power comes great responsibility. The power that I have as a Reiki Master/Teacher also leads me to the responsiblity of being there to help train the student so that he or she can use this new tool to enrich life and the life of others. In some cases the student can surpass the teacher and that is as it should be. All of my students have had their own special set of gifts, many of which I myself do not have. Not that I feel inadequate in any way, shape or form, all of us have our own gifts to share, one is not better than another, just different. Reiki enhances these gifts, whatever they may be. I have a few students that have surpassed me in their gifts and I could not be any more pleased about it. They just needed that one missing puzzle piece to make their gifts come to life, and the Reiki attunement was that missing piece.

I  attuned a friend to Reiki Master/Teacher just yesterday. It has been a while since I have done a Master attunement (most people do Level 1 and 2 and then stop or do not do their Master attunement for a while afterwards). I had almost forgotten what a pleasure it was to do one. Almost. It made me want to go out and attune everyone! As it always does. It pleased me to know that this person's life would never be the same again (in a good way!) It is really my true calling and from my heart, not my head.

When I think back to all the students I have had in the past (I have lost touch with some but still see many others that I have attuned) one thing stands out. The diversity! I have attuned both men and women, younger and older, rich and poor, people who are computer geeks, people who are so NOT into computers. People who are religious and people who are athiests or agnostic. People that use it only on themselves and people who want to help others. People who use it on their kids and pets. People who send it at a distance and people who like to use their hands on someone or something. People who use it every day and people who forget to use it. People who's lives changed dramatically for the better and people who's lives changed just a bit. People who use it on plants and their food and medication. People who no longer take medication because of it. And on and on. So in other words there is no one type of person that gets a Reiki attunement. They are all kinds of people from all walks of life. And it has been a pleasure and a priviledge to have a hand in it all. To be able to make a definitive change in someone's life for the better is truly a rewarding and humbling experience. One that I do not take lightly. My responsiblity to my students is one that I take very seriously. I will be available to them for as long as they need it. But just like a mother bird has to let her baby birds fly away someday, I too release them into the world where they will also share the gift of Reiki. At least that is my freverent hope.
