I am sure you have all heard this well worn saying "Seeing is believing" But what if you can't see it? Does it still exist? The short answer is yes. Does electricity exist? Yes you might say. How do you know it exists, can you see it? Sure you can, you flip a switch and a light goes on. True but can you actually SEE the electricity going into the lightbulb from the wires? Well no, it is invisible but it is there for sure! OK then well you can't see Reiki energy either but it does exist. How do you know it exists if you can't see it? they might ask. Because it is a lot like electricity, you can see or feel an end result but the energy itself is invisible to most people. I say most because some people actually can see it (not me, but some Reiki practitioners can). So seeing is believing is not always true in this case.
Recently my daughter's boyfriend had an accident, his finger got slammed into a car door and broke. He was in quite a bit of pain and had to wait endless hours in the ER for this non emergency to have the bone reset and splinted and given some pain meds which had little or no effect. After all you have to swallow a pain pill, have it digest, go into the blood stream and then finally make its way into a finger, close to the furtherest point away from the body along with the toes. No wonder it wasn't helping. I asked to see his finger. He gave me a quizzical look as if to say why? I told him about Reiki and that I would heal his finger quickly, the pain would go away and the bone would heal in about 2 weeks instead of the usual 4 to 6 weeks it normally took. Bless his heart, he humored me and gave me his finger. As I did the Reiki on it I explained about how Reiki helps speed up healing, the body of course will heal itself but it takes time, the addition of Reiki usually makes bones heal 50% faster than if it wasn't used. I say that from experience using it on people with broken bones AFTER they see a doctor and have the bone set. I have used it on two people who had stress fractures of the foot, which can be quite painful and often very stubborn to heal if you need to walk a lot (and who doesn't). These will go away very quickly once Reiki is used. And now I had the chance to use it on a broken finger.
A few weeks later I saw the BF again and he came up to me and said look at this, he showed me his finger and he could bend it like new, without any restriction, no black and blue, no stiffness, no swelling looked like a normal finger. If you ever had a broken finger you know that sometimes it never heals right, it is slightly bent or it is stiff and hard to bend. This finger looked as though nothing had even happened. He said to me, I am a believer, thank you! As I said seeing is believing. he saw his finger heal quickly and he knew the Reiki helped it.

How I rapidly healed pink eye
A while back I used to work at a PT clinic, assisting the PT with massage to the clinic patients. One day the head PT came in wearing a pair of large sunglasses. I thought this a bit unusual as it was not particularly bright outside and even less so in the clinic. I was teasing her about it asking her if she had "gone Hollywood" on us. It was then that she revealed that she had come down with a bad case of conjunctivitis also known as "pink eye" because it turned the white of the eyes into an irritated shade of pink.
If you have never had pink eye, let me tell you it is not pleasant. I caught a case from my daughter once, it is a highly contagious bacterial infection on the conjuntiva of the eye which is the pink membrane that encircles the eyeball. I had it before I received Reiki so I could not heal it myself. I too wore dark glasses to the doctor who quickly checked my eyes and gave me antibacterial drops which burned like hell when placed into my already inflammed eye tissue. By the third or fourth day they were pretty much back to normal but the itching and oozing was almost unbearable for a day or two, yuk! And you cannot touch your eye as the infection is easily spread to your hands and then other objects you touch and then to others as well if you are not careful to wash your hands right away. And when you wake up from sleeping your eyelids are basically stuck together from the goo that is oozing out of your eyes all night. You need to use a wash cloth dipped in hot water and placed on the eyes to wipe away the goo and get your eyelids unstuck. As I said, not pleasant.
So she had her dark glasses on and assured me she would not be touching any patients that day, that was MY job anyway. She also said she would go to the doctor after work and get some drops. I asked her if she was willing to try something with me when we had a few minutes that were not busy. The patients were put on stimulation machines and ice or heat for several minutes at a time so there was usually a lull in tasks we had to do on the patients. An opportunity arose and she agreed to try Reiki.
Now I had never healed pink eye on anyone before. This was only an experiment to say the least. I figured it could not hurt any, at worst the pink eye would still be the same and she would still have to go to the doctor. But what if I could "cure" it very quickly, in a matter of minutes rather than days, with nothing but Reiki energy?
I was determined to try and she wanted relief so we got ready. I had her sit across from me about 20 feet away from me in a chair and I was sitting opposite her. I held my palms up after I turned on the Reiki energy and beamed it from across the room into her eyes. She asked if she should take off her glasses, I said no it wasn't necessary. I asked her to describe her symptoms. She told me her eyes felt hot, watery and red like fire. So I imagined that I was taking the red out first. I pictured her eyes in my mind and "saw" the red changing to white again. I asked her to tell me how it felt. She said it felt like the fire was going out. Then I imagined that the watery eyes were drying out, I "saw" them again getting dryer and dryer. I asked again how it felt, she said her eyes felt dryer, not oozy and also the heat was getting less and less. I had her focus on my palms for about 5 to 10 minutes all told. Then we had to get back to work.
About a half an hour later she came over to me and took off her glasses and said to look at her eyes. She assured me that when she came to work, they were red, puffy and watery. Looking at her eyes, I saw no trace of watery eyes nor were they puffy, the only thing I could see was one eye was slightly redder than the other but if I was not looking for it, you could barely notice. She said they were no longer itchy or inflammed feeling. And rest assured if you know how it feels there is no mistake that they are itchy and inflammed, the issues were gone! She called it a miracle, I called it Reiki to the rescue.
Rest assured I do not claim to heal anyone. What I do is facilitate the healing process using Reiki to speed up the body's own natural ability to heal. But instead of taking days to heal and using drops to kill the infection, Reiki took minutes with no drops. The body was given the energy it needed to fight the infection and speed up healing to a record time. Other things can also be healed using Reiki. Over the years it seems to me that when I use Reiki the healing time is cut into half, so if it would take a day to heal, it will now take hours. A broken bone will take longer to heal of course but if a bone would normally take 6 weeks to heal, regular Reiki treatment would seem to heal it in 3. I have healed burns, cuts, bruises, scrapes, stopped bleeding in record time, stopped pain in record time (minutes with no ice) stopped indigestion, nausea, headaches, ear aches, sore throats, etc, with Reiki. I really never go to the doctor anymore. Don't need to.
This is only one of many examples of healing I have done with Reiki. Again I leave it up to you to have an open mind to it. Rest assured these stories are all true. As I write more in this blog, I will share more details of how I can also use Reiki to heal emotional issues as well as physical and also use Reiki to heal at a distance.
More to come!

First Aid in My Hands
The other night I turned off the light and made my way towards my bedroom in pitch blackness. Not being a cat I have not yet perfected the technique of seeing in the dark. As a result I banged the toes of my left foot into a black vacuum cleaner that was in the hallway on the way to my room. A searing pain shot through my toes and up into my leg, the nerves screaming for attention...help me,they said! So what did I do... besides curse like a sailor? Did I get an ice pack, did I rub it vigorously with my hand, did I hop up and down on one foot??
No.
I did Reiki on it. I drew the symbols and ran energy into my throbbing toes. I places my hands on both sides of my foot. I allowed the Reiki to just flow, not directing it, not saying make the pain stop, not hoping for any result. I just ran the energy. With a clear and empty mind.
Within I would say about 2 to 3 minutes the throbbing stopped completely. The soreness remained for a bit but it was not nearly as sore as it was. The swelling was kept in check, yes there was still some swelling but not very much. Normally an ice pack would have been in order to numb the throbbing pain and reduce the swelling. Within 5 minutes I determined that ice would not be necessary.
The next day, the second to the last toe and the baby toe were somewhat bruised but the bruising was minimal. I kid you not when I say that my foot hit that vacuum full force, it was not a glancing blow. Those toes should have been purple. They were not. There was a hint of blue/green color on the toes but not that noticeable. If there was a fracture originally, it was gone as I could move the toes without pain, almost effortlessly. By the second day the toes were pretty much back to normal, the swelling was almost gone. By today there was only a little black and blue mark left on the second to last toe.
So what happened?
The body healed itself as it always does.In record time! The body already knows what to do. Sometimes the best thing we can do is get out of the body's way and let it do its thing. The problem is the entire healing process takes time. There is the initial acute reaction where blood rushed to the injured area, causing swelling and inflammation which is actually the proper way to allow the body to heal. Stopping the inflammatory process is actually counterproductive in the first 24 hours. That is the initial state of healing that the body takes. To suppress this inflammatory stage actually prolongs the healing process. But in the meantime there is pain and it is uncomfortable. So we pop a pain pill. The pain is there for a reason as well. The pain is there to signal to us that there is an acute injury, otherwise we would not even be aware of it. so pain is really our friend, trying to warn us that something is wrong. Hey pay attention buddy...I am hurt here!!! We need to pay attention.
The purpose of first aid is to give quick assistance to stop an injury from possibly becoming life threatening. Stopping bleeding is the first line of defensive in an injury. Obviously Reiki is not recommended if someone is bleeding heavily. Emergency action must be taken quickly. But barring that, Reiki can be very useful in assisting the body to take action to heal at a very accelerated rate.
If an injury would normally take about a week to heal, I find that Reiki seems to cut the healing time in half. I have cut myself (not badly but some bleeding) burned myself, paper cuts, scratches, scrapes, bruises etc. All minor injuries, no broken bones or serious bleeding (although once the bone is set properly or the bleeding has been stopped by stitches, the healing will speed up with Reiki). If a bone would normally take 6 weeks to heal, it might heal in 3. If a deep cut would scar over, the Reiki seem to heal the scar faster with no trace of scar tissue in its wake. I have had burns and cuts heal to the point where you could not even tell there had been an injury there. Of course I have not done scientific studies to prove that Reiki speeds up healing, I am just going by my personal observations. But to me seeing is believing and I have seen a lot of things heal in record time. On myself and others I have worked on.
I will share other stories of healing I have done over the past several years since I have become a Reiki Master in this blog. I will not use any names out of respect to the persons I have worked on. Some of the things are truly amazing to me. I hope you will keep an open mind and draw your own conclusions. I am not asking anyone to believe anything. I am simply asking that you allow your mind to remain open to the possibilities. What if it really DOES work, and we can ALL heal 50% faster? The implications are mind boggling.

Too much enthusiasm!
When I first received Reiki back in 2003, I was filled with awe and wonder. I was so happy to have this wonderful gift in my hands and was so sure that everyone else would be too. I ran after people trying to put my hands on them, when they complained of pain or even to stop bleeding. While some people were receptive in a bemused sort of way (what is this crazy chick doing???) many were not. I began to work as a massage therapist during that time and my very second client was having low back pain. I was sure she wanted to get some Reiki so without even asking (a big no-no) I began to channel Reiki into her low back. After a few minutes she said to me, what are you doing? I explained to her that I was using a new energy healing technique to help her back. To which she replied, yeah well stop it!
THUD!!!
It was then I realized that not all people would be in as much love with Reiki as I was. Nor would they be receptive to it. Nor would they necessarily be ready to heal yet. This intrigued me. Why would someone not be ready to heal? I made it my life's focus to find out.
I did a lot of research. I talked to many healers. I read a lot of books. I talked to my clients. I talked to my spirit guides and angels. I talked to myself....a LOT!!
This is a conclusion I came to after years of working on many, many people.
There has to be a payoff in NOT healing. Otherwise, they wouldn't be doing it. They would be healing. Maybe not right away, but over time, they would heal. If they are not healing, they don't really WANT to heal.
Now what do I mean by this?
For some subconscious reason, they are getting something they want out of NOT healing. It might be attention from others, it might be that they have a "good" excuse not to do others things because they have this issue and can't function as a result. They may just like being miserable and want to drag everyone else down with them. I know it sounds outragous to say it but I think in some cases it is true. Obviously these are people who do not want to get Reiki because many times Reiki will force them to confront an issue that they are not yet ready to deal with, or maybe will never be ready in this lifetime.
Some people do want to heal but are just not ready yet. They need to take their own time to be ready and that's OK. I have had people that do not want to get on the table today, but in maybe a month or so they are so fed up with their life that they are ready. Not everyone has to hit rock bottom in order to heal but a lot of people do. They somehow feel they need to have to suffer first or have to tough it out somehow. And many people have a problem asking for help, they think it is a sign of weakness. Quite the opposite, it is a sign of strength. To be able to admit that you need help takes a lot of courage, a lot of people do not want to admit that. I admire people who come to me and say, hey I need help! And then I say, yes I can help you.
Let the healing begin!

My life as a Reiki Master
I have been a Reiki Master/Teacher since 2004. One of the greatest joys of my life is being able to attune another person to receive the magic of Reiki energy. But as someone once said, with great power comes great responsibility. The power that I have as a Reiki Master/Teacher also leads me to the responsiblity of being there to help train the student so that he or she can use this new tool to enrich life and the life of others. In some cases the student can surpass the teacher and that is as it should be. All of my students have had their own special set of gifts, many of which I myself do not have. Not that I feel inadequate in any way, shape or form, all of us have our own gifts to share, one is not better than another, just different. Reiki enhances these gifts, whatever they may be. I have a few students that have surpassed me in their gifts and I could not be any more pleased about it. They just needed that one missing puzzle piece to make their gifts come to life, and the Reiki attunement was that missing piece.
I attuned a friend to Reiki Master/Teacher just yesterday. It has been a while since I have done a Master attunement (most people do Level 1 and 2 and then stop or do not do their Master attunement for a while afterwards). I had almost forgotten what a pleasure it was to do one. Almost. It made me want to go out and attune everyone! As it always does. It pleased me to know that this person's life would never be the same again (in a good way!) It is really my true calling and from my heart, not my head.
When I think back to all the students I have had in the past (I have lost touch with some but still see many others that I have attuned) one thing stands out. The diversity! I have attuned both men and women, younger and older, rich and poor, people who are computer geeks, people who are so NOT into computers. People who are religious and people who are athiests or agnostic. People that use it only on themselves and people who want to help others. People who use it on their kids and pets. People who send it at a distance and people who like to use their hands on someone or something. People who use it every day and people who forget to use it. People who's lives changed dramatically for the better and people who's lives changed just a bit. People who use it on plants and their food and medication. People who no longer take medication because of it. And on and on. So in other words there is no one type of person that gets a Reiki attunement. They are all kinds of people from all walks of life. And it has been a pleasure and a priviledge to have a hand in it all. To be able to make a definitive change in someone's life for the better is truly a rewarding and humbling experience. One that I do not take lightly. My responsiblity to my students is one that I take very seriously. I will be available to them for as long as they need it. But just like a mother bird has to let her baby birds fly away someday, I too release them into the world where they will also share the gift of Reiki. At least that is my freverent hope.

How it all started
2/23/12
Hello my name is Pat and I am a massage therapist and a Reiki Master/Teacher. Welcome to my new blog about Reiki. I started this blog to talk about my experiences with Reiki and how it has changed my life in so many positive ways. Of course I am a bit prejudiced and think EVERYONE should get at least 2 Reiki attunements to quickly achieve enlightenment and good health but I leave it up to you to judge for yourself if Reiki is for you. Basically this blog will be autobiographical with some anecdotal examples of how Reiki changed my life and the life of many others that I have personally attuned to Reiki. For the better!
It all started back in 2003 while I was attending massage school. I attended the Wellness and Massage Training Institute in Woodridge ,IL which alas is no more but is now Cortiva Massage School. While I was studying massage therapy, I met a Reiki Master/Teacher named Linda Miller (no relation to Ray Miller who owned the massage school at the time). Linda Miller is also a channeler and an ordained minister, massage therapist, Reiki Master/Teacher so she wears many hats. I became interested in energy healing while I was studying massage and decided to take her Level 1 Reiki class to see if it was something that resonated with me.
Well did it ever!
As soon as I was attuned to Reiki Level 1, I heard a voice loud and clear and that voice said Shakti to me. Just like someone in the room had said it. I had no idea who or what Shakti was or who the voice in my head was but it was significant, that I knew. So I said out loud to no one in particular...what does Shakti mean? Someone in the room said, she is a Hindu goddess, the word is Sanskrit. At the time I knew it meant something but didn't know what so I had to do some research on it. Turns out that Shakti means "to be able",the sacred forces of the feminine...Shakti is the personification of divine feminine creative power, The Great Divine Mother in Hindu. I had never studied Hinduism before and I had never taken yoga at the time so I knew nothing about the Charka system and Kundalini, etc. Needless to say I got very interested right away! And that was only the first in a series of clues that I would receive from my "brand new" spirit guide who I later came to know as Augustus, who was a Greek physician (what we would now call a chiropractor) who took up residence inside of my head.
This was not to say that I didn't already have voices in my head before my Reiki attunement, I did even as a child. I will talk about some of the things that happened to me as a child, and also some things that happened to me right after the 9/11 terrorist attacks in future posts, but this voice was so clear and strong as I said as if he was in the room with me talking to me like a normal conversation. It was almost as though the channel was not quite on the right frequency and then as soon as I was attuned BAM it locked in. And I could instant receive the messages from my guide (I only had the one I could hear at the time, that changed over time).
Now I have to pause here and just say, this does NOT happen to everyone who is attuned to Reiki, at least not right away. It might take several attunements and a lot of time in between to get to this point. I believe that everyone who is attuned to Reiki does have spirit guides but they may not necessarily be able to hear them right away. You may have to do some work asking for signs and then they are not always verbal. For me all my senses were heightened after the attunement, my hearing, vision, touch, and sense of smell all became heightened (didn't notice if taste was too but my sense of taste was always pretty good). Colors were brighter, I could hear sounds that no one else could, smells were more potent and my sense of touch became so much more refined which is a good thing if you are a massage therapist! I was told many times that I could "find the spot" so fast when I was working on someone. I realized later that it was like Braille almost, that my hands could "read" what was going on inside the body. Very cool.
A month later I was attuned to Reiki Level 2 by Linda Miller and then a few months later, on my birthday in 2004 I was Attuned to Reiki Master/Teacher. I knew it was my calling and what I have a huge passion for and just simply love to do. Best birthday gift I ever got!
So that is a little background into how I got here. In the next entry I will talk about some of the ways I used Reiki to heal myself and others, and give some examples of my greatest healings. I will try and write here a few times per week at the very least once a week.
